Description

Biology Teacher

Reports to Science Department HOD


Purpose


A Biology teacher at The International of Kenana, American Department, must have a comprehensive understanding of key biological concepts, including cell biology, genetics, evolution, ecology, anatomy, physiology, and plant biology. They should be proficient in teaching complex processes, such as cellular respiration and gene expression, using visual aids, hands-on experiments, and inquiry-based learning to engage students. The teacher must also be skilled in data analysis, using statistical methods to interpret biological data. Additionally, staying updated on current trends in biotechnology, environmental issues, and ethical considerations in biology is essential. Effective classroom management, differentiated instruction, and fostering critical thinking are key to helping students grasp scientific concepts and understand their real-world applications.


Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Science, Education, or a related field.

- Teaching certification or licensure, and Masters Degrees are preferrable.

- 2 years’ experience teaching Biology is preferrable.


Note: Good knowledge of Chemistry is a great additive

Job Responsibilities

Tasks and Responsibilities

o Consistently act as a role model by embodying the school’s Vision and Mission Statements in all interactions and activities.

o Work diligently to help students improve their academic performance in mid-term and end-of-year exams.

o Prepare all lesson materials in advance, ensuring copy requests are submitted at least 48 hours prior to usage.

o Plan, deliver, and provide feedback on classroom lessons and homework to maintain academic rigor and engagement.
