Description

International Schools of Kenana – American Division is seeking a skilled and organized Database Administrator to manage the school’s data systems. The role will focus on maintaining the integrity, security, and performance of our databases, while generating timely reports to support school management and academic decisions.

Job Responsibilities

1. Database Management:

  • Maintain and manage the school’s database systems, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Monitor database performance and perform regular tuning and optimization.
  • Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies.
  • Regularly update and patch database systems to ensure smooth operation.


2. Data Reporting and Analysis:

  • Collaborate with various school departments to understand their data reporting needs.
  • Generate custom reports, dashboards, and analytics based on student, staff, and operational data.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data trends and analysis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting for decision-making.


3. Data Security and Compliance:

  • Develop and enforce database security measures to protect sensitive student and staff information.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (such as GDPR or other local data laws).
  • Conduct regular audits of database access and data usage.


4. Data Integrity and Quality:

  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data across all systems.
  • Perform data cleansing and validation to maintain high-quality data records.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any data-related issues in collaboration with the IT team.


5. Collaboration and Support:

  • Provide support to staff in accessing and interpreting data reports.
  • Work closely with the IT department to ensure database systems are integrated with other school technology systems.
  • Train users on proper data management practices and report generation tools.


6. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL, MySQL, Oracle).
  • Experience in generating reports and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.


7. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an educational or academic environment.
  • Familiarity with student information systems and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions.
